Abstract

This thesis is focused on “mediterranean arborescent matorral with Ziziphus Lotus”, habitat restricted to semiarid areas in the southeast of the Iberian Peninsula declared as priority habitat for conservation by the European Directive 92/43/EEC. This type of habitat has been mainly reduced and fragmented by intensive greenhouse-based agriculture and urban expansion in the last 55 years. The main objective is based on evaluation of effects of the drastic and accelerated loss habitat and fragmentation on dispersal and regeneration of Ziziphus Lotus. The loss and regression of natural habitat influence on different components of dispersal seed and dispersal seed service leading to dispersal and regeneration collapse through direct and indirect factors related with local and regional degradation effects. The Knowledge about conservation state is needed for a suitable management of habitat and specie.
