Abstract

The main aim of this Doctoral Thesis, divided into three parts, is to develop new analytical methods for the determination of compounds with special social interest in the environmental and bioanalytical fields. The first part is focused on the development of simple, fast and sensitive analytical methods to determine chemotherapic compounds and their metabolites. Camptothecin-derivatives and uracil-derivatives compounds are employed in the treatment of several kind of cancer, with special attention on colorectal cancer. The second part of this work is focused on the studio of several a-dicarbonyl compounds, which are related with food quality and whit several chronic diseases and oxidative stress, by their interaction with nucleic acids and proteins. Finally, the third part of this Thesis is focused on the development of novel analytical methodology for environmental monitoring, with special attention to pesticides and emerging pollutants, which present toxic effects to living beings and the environment. The different analytical strategies employed have been based in the application of first-order and second-order chemometric algorithms in combination with fluorescence signals, as well as in the employment of capillary electrophoresis and liquid chromatography, coupled with several detectors (UV-Visible, fluorimetric detector and mass spectrometry).
