Abstract

Several investigations related stress with different professions and come to confirm that teaching is one of the most stressful professions in which the demands far exceed the teacher's resources. Also many have been providing research on teacher dissatisfaction, it psychological distress and stress and agreeing that in teacher attrition are mainly involved personal and contextual factors. This research project aims to contribute to the promotion and enhancement of management and intervention on workplace's stress, prevention of mental health problems and optimize quality of life, both work and personal, of non-university teachers in Extremadura. This is carried out a study on the effects of implementation of a program of cognitive- behavioral intervention in integrated and scheduled faculty combining different strategies for cognitive-behavioral nature intended to teach attendees to control the psychological risk factors involved in work stress. The results indicate that there are significant relationships between gender and mental health; age and vegetative stress response; and that the program has been effective in changing perceptions about stress sources and improved mental health and assertive behaviors of in the intervention program participants.
