Abstract

Photovoltaic technology is a type of source for distributed generation (DG). The classic approach performs a deterministic analysis, which does not take into account uncertainties associated with electrical systems. This thesis has developed a methodology for analysing radial electrical networks from a probabilistic perspective. A probabilistic model that includes photovoltaic generators and load has been implemented. It’s developed a method that optimizes the location and size of the generators photovoltaic minimizing losses. The study is performed using a radial typical system, comparing the results in several situations of operation: without DG, DG in summer and winter. Results of the proposed methodology are compared against another methodology based on Monte Carlo simulation, in order to its validation. The results allow obtaining a comprehensive overview of how the system is influenced by the uncertainties associated with the loads and the photovoltaic generators.
