Doctor by the UNED. Universidad Nacional de Educación a Distancia with the thesis Estudio histórico-tecnológico de prensas para la fabricación de aceite de oliva aplicación en la reconstrucción gráfica de una prensa de viga y quintal 1995. Supervised by Dr. Miguel Ángel Sebastián Pérez.

José Ignacio Rojas-Sola holds a Ph.D. degree in industrial engineering and won the Honor Medal of Industrial Engineers Association of Eastern Andalusia. He serves as Full Professor in Engineering Graphics at the Department of Engineering Graphics, Design and Projects at the University of Jaen (Spain). He was head of the research group ‘Engineering Graphics and Industrial Archaeology” from 1995 until 2021 and he also was the Director for Western Europe of International Society for Geometry and Graphics from 1999 to 2008. He plays the role of Scientific Reviewer for many different associations and journals in more than 45 international journals indexed in Journal Citation Reports (Clarivate Analytics), and authored more than 250 journal and conference papers including more than 100 published in journal quoted in JCR. He acted as well as an Expert for project proposals evaluation for the Spanish Ministry of Technology and Science and Italian Ministry of Education, University and Research and he has main researcher in a lot of projects. Also, he has been supervisor of 11 doctoral thesis, member in several editorial board of scientific JCR journals (Associate Editor) and member of the Scientific Committee, Steering/Honour Committee and Program Committee in more than 100 International Conferences. His research lines include Engineering Graphics applied to cultural heritage, vernacular architecture, industrial archaeology, engineering graphics applied to industrial heritage, history of technology, computer-aided design, computer-aided engineering or computer animation, among others.
