Abstract

This paper presents the results of the anthracological analysis of several archaeological sites located around Málaga Bay: in the center of the city, charcoal from Císter/San Agustín street and Picasso Museum have been analyzed, while in the airport area, charcoal from La Rebanadilla and Cortijo San Isidro have been analyzed. These archaeological sites have activity between the 9th and 3rd centuries BC, so they have provided an important chronological sequence that helps us to begin to understand how the vegetation of the area during the 1st millennium BC was used. Likewise, the existence of a cremation necropolis and a ceramic workshop allows us to know the fuels used for the cremation of the corpses and for artisanal production. All this allows for a more precise study of the management of forest resources of these populations.
