Abstract

This thesis explores the possibilities of video games as a resource in teaching-learning processes in the ELE (Spanish as a Foreign Language) classroom. We begin by determining and defining specific characteristics of video games, relating the way in which they are used so that the player learns to play with learning strategies that students can use in their educational processes. We have incorporated these specific characteristics of video games into tasks that involve both the use and the creation of video games in the ELE (SFL) classroom, with the aim of analysing their performance in the field of formal education. Through quantitative studies and qualitative considerations, we evaluate the relevance of these characteristics of video games as components of learning resources in the teaching of Spanish as a foreign language.
