Abstract

The doctoral thesis —La enseñanza del español a través del léxico de la botánica: aspectos culturales— explores the behavior and treatment of specialized terminologies in botany within the context of teaching Spanish as Foreign language. The starting point of the research is the Monolingual Dictionary for Learning Spanish as a Foreign Language. This dictionary is used to conduct descriptive studies of lexicographic treatments and the potential of botanical lexicon. Thus, the main objective of this research is to identify general patterns of behavior and lexicographic treatment of the botanical lexicon in Monolingual Learning Dictionaries, specifically in the Diccionario Salamanca de la lengua española (Pascual, 2009).
